An interactive workshop in the boiler house (“ketelhuis”) of De Cruquius, with model steam engines and technical gadgets. Children experiment with model steam machines that drive small devices and learn how the original huge steam engine of the pumping station worked. It’s hands-on: pupils can try out the models themselves with guidance, and there’s a tour of the Cruquius pumping station. The aim is to provide insight into the principles of steam and steam machines in a playful manner.
